What is the ISIC International Student Identity Card ?
In 1953, students wanted their status to be recognised around the world through the introduction of an international student card using the same standard design.
As a result, the ISIC card was created and continues to be operated today by ISTC (International Student Travel Confederation).
L’ISIC Association, whose registered office is located in Amsterdam, was created in 1958 with the following purpose:
“To increase international understanding through the promotion of travel and exchange opportunities among students, young people and the academic community”.
Today, the ISIC card is issued in 120 countries by 125 branches around the world.
Each year, over 4.5 million students in the world use their ISIC card to take advantage of its benefits and services.
ViaJoven is the only entity authorised to operate the ISIC card In Spain.
Unesco’s memorandum
In 1993, the ISIC card was recognised and endorsed by UNESCO as the only international student card which provides proof of student status around the world.
