Barcode

A barcode is a representation of numerical or alphanumerical data – a code – in the form of a symbol comprised of bars and spaces with varying widths based on the symbology used and the data accordingly encoded.

Thousands of different barcodes exist and they are intended to be machine-readable by a barcode scanner.

Printing and thermal transfer are the most widespread technologies used to print barcodes.

For your cards:

You simply need to create a blank rectangular box (a white space) on the front or back design of the card which complies with the height and width dimensions of your existing or future barcodes. The barcode will be printed when your cards are personalised with the students’ data.

All card issuing software packages which we distribute have this function and are incremented with the most widely used symbologies or fonts such as code 39, code 93, 2 of 5…
