ISIC FACTS & FIGURES FOR 2011
Did you know that to date, the ISIC card is distributed in over 120 countries and represents 62% of the total number of countries in the world? And did you know that McDonald’s outlets can only be found in 117 countries?
- The ISIC card initiative was launched in 1953,
- Each year more than 4.5 million students obtain an ISIC card in more than 120 countries worldwide,
- There are more than 5,000 ISIC issuing offices worldwide,
- There are more than 40,000 benefits and discounts available worldwide for cardholders,
- There are 80+ national ISIC websites and 50+ local ISIC Facebook pages that reach out to students around the globe.

ISIC Endorsements
The ISIC card was founded with the aim to foster intercultural and international understanding through pioneering benefits accessible to students.
For nearly 60 years, the ISIC card has been renowned around the world as the only internationally accepted proof of full-time student status. The success of the ISIC card over its impressive history is built primarily on its credibility and integrity as a bona fide identity document for full-time students.
The ISIC card is endorsed by organisations and institutions such as UNESCO, the Andean Community of Nations and a wide range of national governments, ministries of education, student organizations and universities worldwide.

University of Ottawa - ISIC
ISIC has successfully negotiated a co-brand agreement with the University of Ottawa and OC Transpo.
The agreement, a partnership between ISIC,
the University of Ottawa and OC Transpo sees all full-time undergraduate and
graduate students at the University of Ottawa receive a co-branded ISIC as part
of their enrolment package. In addition to which, the co-branded ISIC will serve
as a universal transit pass, or U-Pass, and allow University of Ottawa students
unlimited access to Ottawa's public bus, commuter rail and disabled persons
transit system at discount of more than 50%.
More than 25.000 University of Ottawa students have already
received their co-branded ISIC.
